Vertical extended double zepp antenna for 2 metres & more.

Image
If you want an outstanding antenna for both the 2 meter and 6 meter amateur radio bands, you can't go wrong with this "vertical extended double zepp antenna" from Australian radio operator Peter Parker (VK3YE). The antenna is based on a "classic" antenna dating back to the Zeppelin airship days of the 1920s-1930s.  Peter modifies the zepp idea and brings it into the modern day with a simple, effective antenna covering the 2 meter and 6 meter bands. The antenna is easy to make and deploy.  This design is suitable for both home station and field use for SOTA/POTA operations. Here are some comments from Peter (VK3YE): A very simple but very good omnidirectional vertical antenna for VHF FM simplex and repeaters. But that's not all. What is it? It's a extended double zepp a...

No room for a 160 meter antenna? Try this instead.

Do you lack the space to erect a 160/80meter vertical antenna? If your backyard won't accommodate antennas for "Top Band", then this project using a "Big Dog Coil" will allow you to explore this amateur radio band without compromising your limited space. In this video, Hayden (VK7HH) builds and tests a fascinating vertical antenna that covers the 160 and 80 meter bands with a minimum of space. Russ Roberts (KH6JRM/AL0HA). ------------------------ The Bruce Array Posted on   June 7, 2012   by   jabcam It is the current in the antenna wire that creates the radiation. A larger current means higher radiation and so increased signal strength at the receiver. And a larger current can be acheived with final amplifiers. This is however costly. Another way of increasing the signal strength is to let several smaller radiators combine and positively reinforce with each other, thus creating lobes of maximum radiation at the expense of lowering the emission in other directions. A common way of doing this is to put two radiators at a dista...
