Extended Double Zepp Antenna

Image
Thanks to the late Stan Gibilisco (W1GV) for this in depth discussion of the "classic" Extended Double Zepp Antenna. According to Stan, the EDZ is a simple, yet effective "collinear array of two 5/8 waves in phase."  The antenna exhibits modest gain while being useful on several HF amateur radio bands. If you want an inexpensive multiband HF antenna, please try this EDZ project from Stan (W1GV).   You don't need to spend a lot of money to build a simple, effective multi-band HF antenna. In this video, Peter Waters (G3OJV) shows us several HF antenna projects "that cost little and are easy to make."  If you have some wire, a length of coaxial cable, and a few tools and supports, you can get on the air quickly with a good signal. Here are some comments from Peter (G3OJV): Many Ham Radio operators are working on a budget where the cost of a commercial antenna eats too heavily into the finance available. Maybe you are a beginner and would like to build yourself a simple antena to get you started. Here, Peter G3OJV, provides some simple designs that reqire little more than some wire and coax cable.
