An end fed half wave antenna with built in counterpoise

Image
If you like to experiment with "classic" HF antennas, please try this EFHW with built-in counterpoise from Kevin Loughin (KB9RLW). According to Kevin, this HF antenna is a modern update of the classic "Zeppelin" antenna used on rigid German airships. Although there may be debate about whether the short wire beneath the radiating element is a counterpoise or something else, the antenna as built with a 49:1 UnUn works very well. Kevin provides valuable suggestions on how to design and test this classic HF antenna. Here are some comments from Kevin (KB9RLW). A little experiment with an end fed half wave. I was interested in an old zepp antenna that had a counterpoise along side the main radiator. It works! And works well. If you like my videos, please subscribe here: http://www...

Deploying a 7-Band EFHW-Full set up & performance test

Image
Thanks to Paul Kline (W2PAK) for this "Practical Guide to End Fed Antennas." In this video, Paul shows us the "full set up & performance test" of a 7-band End Fed Halfwave (EFHW) antenna.   According to Paul, this design allows multiband coverage of the 40m, 30m, 20m, 17m, 15m, 12m, and 10m amateur radio bands. Paul offers many suggestions on to build and use this versatile HF antenna. Here are some comments from Paul (W2PAK): In this video, I take a 7-band End-Fed Half-Wave (EFHW) antenna for a complete, practical deployment. Whether you're into portable operations, POTA/SOTA, or just want a reliable multiband wire antenna you can set up quickly, this walkthrough covers everything you need. 🔧 What You’ll See in This Video: • Full EFHW setup • Support points a...
