My Favourite HF Antenna

  Most hams I know prefer a limited selection of HF antennas for home and portable use.  These antennas include dipoles, verticals, and multi-element beams. In this video, Allan (VA3BHY) makes a strong case for a 71-ft (21.64m) random length wire antenna.  According to Allan, his antenna covers 5 HF bands and fits snuggly onto his property. While this antenna isn't for everybody, it does well in cramped spaces.  Carefully designed with the proper baluns and a sturdy antenna transmatch (tuner), this antenna will provide hours of enjoyment.  Give this antenna a try--you will be surprised how well it performs.
