My 5-band attic antenna for ham radio

Image
If you lack sufficient space for an outdoor HF antenna or face regulations from CC&RS or HOAs, please consider this 5-band HF attic antenna from Peter Waters (G3OJV). This antenna can be considered an ultimate "stealth" antenna because no one but you can see it. The antenna is easy to build using locally available materials. Here are some comments from Peter (G3OJV): For those with smaller gardens, or indeed no gardens, the attic may be one of the best options as a site for an antenna. Whilst it is easy to install a VHF antenna in the attic, it can be even easier to install and HF antenna. Here, Peter G3OJV shows how it is very easy to install a multi-band HF antenna, even in quite a small loft or attic. Undercover Ham Radio Operation-with antenna restrictions.

Here's another fascinating HF antenna idea for radio amateurs living in deed-restricted housing or on small urban lots. In this video, Peter Waters (G3OJV) shows us how to modify a popular mobile whip antenna so it can be used in a HOA or on a small urban property. Peter modifies an AMPRO 20 meter band helically wound mobile whip for home station use.  He discusses placement, height above ground, and radial deployment for increased performance. While this compromised antenna system has its limitations, it will get you on the air quickly without raising the curiosity of your neighbors.  The antenna is quick to set up and breakdown. Rain Gutter Drainspout Gutter Antenna Breaking Pileups

Image
If you live in deed-restricted housing (HOA, CC&R), this antenna idea from Bob (KD4BMG) may help you stay on the air without alarming your neighbors. In this video, Bob uses his rains downspout gutter as a hidden antenna.  Despite its limitations, the system works well as evidenced by his recent on-air activity. If you can't see the video, please insert this title URL into your browser search box:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IjWJ_byOD0A. Thanks for joining us today. Aloha es 73 de Russ (KH6JRM). Here are some comments from Bob (KD4BMG): I'll demonstrate how simple it is to install a gutter antenna and get the maximum results with the Chameleon Antenna URT-1 Remote Turner. The demonstration will include pile up breaking QSO's and propagation maps showing just how affective this stealth antenna can be. 👉URT-1 Tuner -- https://chameleonantenna.com/products...
