My ultimate Field Day antenna

If you need a simple, effective HF antenna for the ARRL Field Day (last full weekend of June), then this "lightweight spider beam on a telescoping mast" may be for you.

In this video, Johnathan Charles and a close friend erect a spider beam on a portable mast for the annual ARRL event.

As with all antenna installations, be sure to have friends close by to help erect and position the installation.

If you take your time and take appropriate safety measures, this antenna system will reward you with many contacts.

Here are some comments from Jonathan:

How light can you make a spiderbeam and still make it work? This is my experiment to create a simple antenna and telescoping Mast at minimal cost for Amateur Radio Field Day.
