Grounded Inverted L Antenna-Try This
If you live on a small urban lot, you know how difficult it is to use a decent antenna on the 160 meter and 80 meter amateur radio bands. The size alone can make you abandon this fascinating slices of the HF spectrum.
In this video, Peter Waters (G3OJV) shows us how a "reverse fed grounded L antenna" can get you on these bands. Inverted L antennas can perform very well if you pay attention to how the antenna is fed and deployed. A simple ground radial or counterpoise system and a 49:1 UnUn can help reduce the size of the antenna while boosting overall efficiency of this antenna.
