1/4 wave vertical helical antenna for 80 meters

Here's another HF antenna idea for radio amateurs operating from deed-restricted properties.

In this video, Jared (AC7WH) builds a helically-wound vertical antenna using PVC pipe as it core and 2 elevated radials.  The antenna is small and can fit into a cramped balcony space.

The antenna resembles the "rubber duck" antennas that come with some VHF/UHF hand held radios.

Although the gain is negligible, the antenna works and will get you on the air from a confined space.

Thanks for joining us today.

Here are some comments from Jared (AC7WH):

A quarter-wave vertical helical antenna with two elevated counterpoise wires -- designed for 3.800 MHz -- using PVC for the helical core. Spoiler alert: It works! See the following two videos.
