Cheap multiband HF antenna

If you live in a deed-restricted home or apartment, erecting a stealth antenna can be a difficult challenge.

In this video from "The Ham Shack" we learn how to make a "last resort" antenna to get you on the air.

This antenna is a shortened, base-fed HF vertical using helical loading plus a 9:1 unun to cover frequencies between the 160m and 10m Amateur Radio Bands.  A tuner is needed to operate with this antenna.

Despite the inefficiency and narrow tuning of this short antenna, it will permit good local communications.  The antenna is small, compact, and inexpensive.

This antenna appeals to me, since I now live in a HOA environment.

Here are some comments from "The Ham Shack":

A quick and easy to build vertical for local QSO's. Using a radio with a built in tuner or a low cost after market tuner this antenna will tune on ALL bands from 160m to 6m. You will need: 1.7m of 50mm dia PVC pipe 17m of speaker wire 7 cable ties 9:1 unun Optional clamps and heatshrink I receive lots of antenna designs, some work and some don't, this one worked after changing the unun to a 9:1 This antenna is for local QSOs, it is the equivalent of a rubber duck antenna on a handheld vs a full size resonant antenna, both work but one is for local comms and one is for longer distance comms.
